Bronx Joint a Beacon of Social Equity in Hunts Point

Bronx, New York, March 12, 2024- Bronx Joint, a cannabis dispensary owned and operated by Bronx natives, will hold its grand opening at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 14, at 925 Hunts Point Ave, Hunts Point, Bronx.

The dispensary is supported by the New York Cannabis Social Equity Investment Fund, an initiative created to empower justice-involved individuals who have been granted a Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensary (CAURD) license by the State Office of Cannabis Management.

Owned by Alex Ortecho and his family, Bronx Joint stands as a testament to the resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of the Bronx community.

With a design inspired by the vibrant hip hop culture synonymous with the Bronx, Bronx Joint pays homage to the rich heritage and creative energy of the community. The influence of Ortecho’s mother and other women in the cannabis industry is evident in every aspect of the dispensary's ethos.

"The New York Cannabis Social Equity Investment Fund was instrumental for my family and me," remarked Alex Ortecho. "This program provided us with the necessary support to realize our dream of establishing a business that not only generates employment opportunities but also serves as a beacon of hope and positivity in our neighborhood."

Bronx Joint is committed to offering a diverse range of meticulously tested products, prioritizing public health and safety for adult consumers.

"We envision Bronx Joint as a cornerstone of our community, deeply rooted in the values of inclusivity and empowerment," added Ortecho. "Our team is dedicated to fostering meaningful connections and making a lasting impact in Hunts Point and beyond."

The dispensary will be open 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
