20 Bed Facility to Support Additional Substance Abuse Services in Albany
(November 04, 2016) - Albany, NY - The Addictions Care Center of Albany, Inc. held a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, October 26th to celebrate the construction of a new 20 bed women and children’s residential program. The new building, funded through the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) will increase access to services for women suffering from addiction while allowing them to keep their families intact.
Senator Neil Breslin and Assemblyman John McDonald III joined NYS OASAS, DMH, DASNY and Albany County Sheriff’s office officials to break ground. “DASNY is proud to be conducting necessary design review and monitoring construction for this facility,” said Gerrard P. Bushell, President & CEO of DASNY. “The battle against addiction gains a new ally with this space and demonstrates our dedication to serving those in need.”
The Addictions Care Center of Albany’s (ACCA) Women and Children’s Community Residence, located on the main ACCA campus at 90 McCarty Avenue, will provide a structured therapeutic milieu while residents are concurrently enrolled in ACCA’s full day rehabilitation programming at the Outpatient Clinic. Residents will receive life skills, educational and vocational training and additional skill building as necessary (i.e. parenting classes, financial literacy classes).
“The demand for Substance Use Disorder treatment is growing dramatically and our goal is to help as many residents of the Capital Region obtain services as we possibly can” states Keith W. Stack, ACCA Executive Director. “ACCA will continue to evaluate and grow programming, under our Mission, with the ever-changing needs of the community in which we serve”.
