Programs Support Veterans, Service Members, and Their Families
Funding through the Veterans’ Nonprofit Capital Program Will Enhance Facilities Inside and Out Through Community-Based Organizations
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the award of $2.6 million in grants to 39 Veterans organizations across the state through the Veterans’ Nonprofit Capital Program. These grants will support awardees' efforts to expand and enhance quality services available to the state’s veterans, service members, and their families. Additional funding will be available for Veterans organizations through future rounds of the Veterans’ Nonprofit Capital Program.
"New York’s service members and their loved ones have made enormous sacrifices to protect our democracy, and they deserve access to high-quality support and services,” Governor Hochul said. “The new Veterans’ Nonprofit Capital Program helps recognize their contributions by providing community-based organizations with the critical resources they need to serve our veterans, service members, and their families.”
The Veterans’ Nonprofit Capital Grant Program stands as a beacon of support for the crucial community institutions and organizations dedicated to serving New York’s esteemed Veterans, Service members, and their families. This grant plays a pivotal role in ensuring that these vital entities have the resources they need to continue their invaluable work in a safe and effective manner. By providing essential funding, it empowers these organizations to enhance their facilities, expand their services, and ultimately, enrich the lives of those who have dedicated themselves to the service of our nation. The Veterans’ Nonprofit Capital Grant Program embodies Governor Hochul’s unwavering commitment to uphold the well-being of New York’s Veterans and their families.
These organizations will receive reimbursement for costs related to capital improvements, with funding for projects ranging between $25,000 and $75,000. The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) is administering the program in partnership with the Department of Veterans Services. Veterans organizations across the state will use funding for new roofs, ADA-compliant upgrades and kitchen and common area renovations among other welcomed improvements in the Capital Region (7), Central New York (3), Finger Lakes (3), Long Island (9), Mid Hudson (6), New York City (1), North Country (3), and Western New York (7). Funding through the Veterans' Nonprofit Capital Program is provided for architecture, design, engineering, construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation or expansion of an eligible facility; and purchase of eligible furnishings or equipment.
