State-Approved Cannabis Dispensary Opens in Brooklyn September 6

New Business Supported by the NY Social Equity Cannabis Investment Fund,

Headed by Justice-Impacted Licensee

Brooklyn Bourne, a New York State-licensed cannabis dispensary, opens for business on September 6 at 2225 Church Ave. Brooklyn. A grand opening will be held at noon, September 7 where there will be free food and drink, free gifts with purchases and a raffle.

The dispensary is supported by the New York Cannabis Social Equity Investment Fund, a Public-Private Fund created to provide opportunities for justice-involved individuals who have received a Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensary (CAURD) license from the State Office of Cannabis Management.

The dispensary is owned by Brooklyn native Tyronne Bourne, a victim of stop-and-frisk policies when he was a teenager.

“I want this dispensary to be a tribute to my family and to Brooklyn,” Bourne said, explaining that the dispensary’s name reflects his personal connection to the community. He acknowledged the significant support from the Fund, which has given him the opportunity to start this business in the neighborhood where he grew up. Bourne is eager to bring his diverse career experiences—including roles in financial services, education administration, and informational technology—to the dispensary.

The store is open 10 a.m.- 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m.- 11p.m Friday and Saturday and Sunday 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. The dispensary will carry a full variety of products that are tested to emphasize public health and safety for adult use. Customers will be able to place an order through the store’s website, brooklynbourne.com, where more information can be found about the store and its offerings.
