Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced $57.2 million in grants for capital projects at 35 colleges and universities across New York State through the Higher Education Capital Matching Grant Program. These HECap awards support projects that provide increased training in health sciences through construction of new laboratory and research spaces, the purchase of new instructional technologies and medical equipment, and a variety of other capital investments and improvements. This funding comes at a critical time as New York rebuilds following the pandemic with investments targeted to create jobs and opportunities in higher education and health care.
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the completion of the first phase of a $109 million renovation of Baruch College's historic Lawrence and Eris Field Building at 17 Lexington Avenue. This project is the first significant renovation of the building since it opened its doors in 1929 as the City College of New York - the building also sits on the original site of the 1847 Free Academy - both institutions served as precursors to the City University of New York. The completed renovation, part of a six-stage comprehensive overhaul, includes critical infrastructure upgrades to the building's mechanical and electrical systems, as well as a redesign of the Lexington Avenue façade and lobby to introduce natural light and provide public safety enhancements.
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced a proposal to open the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York's low-cost financing, design and construction services to all non-profits and school districts as part of the Governor's 2021 State of the State agenda. Through this innovative program, nonprofit organizations and school districts can access the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York's services for needed capital improvements at lower costs during the COVID-19 state of emergency so they can spend their limited resources on vital services. Importantly, DASNY also would be authorized to assist with providing finance for working capital needs, a service which can be costly for these types of entities.
The New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) today announced the opening of Outreach's Recovery Residence for Women on Long Island. Operated by Outreach Development Corporation, the new 25-bed women’s residential treatment program, which opened officially earlier this year, will provide adults with comprehensive addiction services such as early recovery supports, medication-assisted treatment, and trauma informed care. OASAS contributed $1 million in funding for the facility and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) oversaw construction.
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the recommendation of the Army Corps of Engineers regarding four initial sites in New York State for locating temporary hospitals - the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, and locations at SUNY Stony Brook, SUNY Old Westbury and the Westchester Convention Center. Over the past days, an inspection team led by the Army Corps of Engineers, and including state officials from the Office of General Services, the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York, the Department of Health and the New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs, has visited more than a dozen sites to review for temporary hospital use.
Officials from New York State, UR Medicine and St. James Hospital gathered Friday morning to cut the ribbon on the new, 87,000-square-foot hospital. Located at 7329 Seneca Rd. N. in Hornell, the new facility is nearly complete and will open for business March 17. The public was invited to an open house and tours at 1 p.m.
Reuben R. McDaniel, III, Acting President and CEO of the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY), announced today Fordham University has issued $145.2 million in tax-exempt bonds through DASNY. Bond proceeds will go toward the modernization of the University's campus center located on the Rose Hill Campus in the Bronx.
The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) and The State University of New York (SUNY) announced today the completion of a $2 million Health & Counseling Services Center on the University at Albany campus. The Center opened in time to welcome students for the spring semester. The relocation of the state-of-the-art facility to an on-campus location was part of a project to renovate Beverwyck and Schuyler Halls on the Dutch Quad. Together, the renovations totaled more than $33 million.

Albany – The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) and the State University of New York (SUNY) today announced construction teams managed by DASNY will begin a $30 million project to renovate the Smith and Casey Tower Complex at SUNY Cortland. The renovation is being financed by low-cost, tax-exempt bonds issued by DASNY as part of its SUNY Dormitory Facilities Program. Construction is expected to be completed by August 2021.
 

Reuben R. McDaniel, III, Acting President and Chief Executive Officer of the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY), announced today the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) financed $346.2 million in bonds through DASNY. Approximately $150 million in tax-exempt bond proceeds will go toward the construction of the Innovative Maker and Learning Complex, a new student theater, student housing renovations, and a new athletic stadium complex.
